Quinn Marks End of Ramadan at Prayer Service
VILLA PARK, Ill. (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn has marked the end of Ramadan by attending a prayer service at a suburban Chicago mosque.

Quinn visited the Islamic Foundation Mosque in Villa Park on Friday.

He said he believes strongly in "every individual's right to practice their faith."

Ramadan is considered the holiest month of the year in the Islamic faith. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. The month ends with a three-day festival known as "Eid.''

Quinn's visit to the suburban mosque comes after he spoke out against the building of an Islamic center near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in New York.

Quinn has said he honors the patriotism of Muslim citizens but believes a group should rethink building a Muslim center and mosque near ground zero.
