"Art in the Park" Saturday
A downtown Galesburg park is once again being transformed into one big work of art, benefitting a local organization that supports local artists and art work.

The 24th annual "Art in the Park" will be held Saturday in Standish Park next to the Knox County Courthouse from 9am to 4pm, hosted by the Galesburg Civic Art Center. Around 50 local and regional artists will be on hand displaying and selling their wares in various types of media.

Todd Ettinger helps organize "Art in the Park," and tells WGIL food is just as much a part of the event as the art is.

"We've got six food vendors. The past could of years, when we started with the multiple food vendors, we only had four. We have one specializing in desserts this year."

Admission into Art in the Park is free, but, again, artwork will be for sale along with the food.

Ettinger says emerging artists will again be a part of their own competition -- those are junior high and high school-aged participants.
