House Speaker Will Work with Next Chicago Mayor
Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan won't say who he wants to be the next mayor of Chicago, but he says he can be helpful to that person.

Madigan was asked Friday whether his daughter, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, might throw in her name into the race. He says she's running for her current office and he didn't know if she would run for some other office.

Speculation about who will or won't run has been rampant since Daley's surprise announcement Tuesday that he won't seek a seventh term.

Michael Madigan says he can help the new mayor because he's worked during his legislative career with every Chicago mayor since Daley's father was in office.

And he adds that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, if he runs for mayor, has some good political experience for the job.
