House Speaker Says Election Might Be OK for Dems
Angry voters across the nation could change the political landscape in Washington D.C. and in Illinois but the Speaker of the Illinois House believes voters understand the state's troubles.

House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) believes voters understand that the country is facing the worst economic time since the great depression. He believes all the Democratic members of the House have proved themselves worthy of re-election. But he doesn't have the same nice words about Republicans.

Madigan blames Republicans for not working with those on his side of the isle to help get Illinois over its financial troubles.

As for Pat Quinn seeking a tax hike, Madigan says Pat Quinn is being Pat Quinn and while Madigan doesn't approve of a tax hike, he applauds Quinn for sticking to what he believes is right.
