Kirk Wants Anti-Gang Task Force
The Republican candidate for U.S. Senate is proposing a federal Anti-Gang Task Force should he be elected.

Congressman Mark Kirk (R-Highland Park) says if elected to the U.S. Senate he would propose an act which establishes and provides $20 million in funds for a national gang task force with corresponding regional task forces to target gangs.

According to the National Drug Intelligence Center, Illinois ranks number one in the nation for the number of gang members per capita.

The task force would include:

■ The FBI
■ The DEA
■ ATF
■ United States Marshals Service
■ Homeland Security
■ Department of Housing and Urban Development
■ State and local law enforcement
■ Federal, state and local prosecutors

Kirk says the funding could come from unused TARP funds.
