Education Still Tops on Quinn's List
Gov. Pat Quinn continues to tout education as one of his top campaign speaking points.

Speaking to a Rotary Club in Chicago , Quinn was critical of his Republican opponent's thoughts on education. "If my opponent gets in, 9,000 kids will loose their early childhood education," Quinn said of State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington). "We have to have a governor who fights for early childhood education, [who] doesn’t want to slash that in a mindless way."

Despite the state being unable to pay in full its obligations to schools and universities across the state, Quinn continues to say education is the most important thing Illinois taxpayers can do for the state's youth.

"I think that the issue that really matters for our economy and for job growth today, tomorrow and forever, is making sure we have a governor who truly believes in education, doesn’t pay lip service to it, but even in the toughest economic times, does everything humanly possible to preserve and grow our educational system in Illinois," Quinn said. "That is the secret to having a strong economy."

According to Brady's campaign, if elected Brady would restore funding to universities that he says previous administrations cut. He supports school vouchers and wants to rein in administrative costs.
