New Man at GREDA
The faces will soon be changing at the Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association.

GREDA has announced that Vice President for Operations Dick Johnson will be retiring at the end of the month, and taking over at that time, Oliver Ferguson, a summer intern working under Johnson.

Johnson says the time was right for him to retire for what became the second time, and tells WGIL he wouldn't have imagined every having to work for a firm like GREDA.

"It led to a phone call that Jeff Klinck made to me in 2004 saying that GREDA had just received a grant and they wanted to start an entrepreneurship center and would I come down and start it. The agreement was yes I would come down and then make sure that I hired a replacement."

Johnson says that led to him being asked to stay on with GREDA a little longer once the replacement was hired. Now, Johnson says he can't say enough good about Ferguson, his replacement, who will become Coordinator of Business Development.

Johnson says Ferguson's international knowledge will be a great asset. Ferguson, a native of Jamaica, has college degrees in Political Science and International Development, and his wife works for Knox College.

He'll start October 1st.
