Enriquez Responds to Jesse White's WGIL Interview
Last week WGIL brought you the story of Secretary of State Jesse White criticizing his Republican opponent Robert Enriquez.

Enriquez promises to publish a forensic audit of the office if he is elected.

White told WGIL last week that idea is "laughable" because the office is already audited every year.

The two met in Chicago recently and exchanged words. Enriquez tells WGIL the meeting was not a friendly one.

"I asked [White] for a debate, and he told me, in front of several individuals, 'Look. I don't need to debate you. You're nobody. You have no fresh ideas,'" Enriquez said. "Well, of course, either my ideas are not fresh or they're laughable, according to my opponent."

Representatives for White say the secretary gave the remarks in a joking or teasing manner.

Enriquez says it's time for the White to start answering questions about how he operates the nation's largest secretary of state's office.
