Knoxville High School Fails to Make AYP
Knoxville High School has been placed on academic early warning year two.

According to standards under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, the school did not meet adequately year progress.

"Last year, 77.5% [of students] had to meet or exceed to make AYP," Kemmer said. "At Knoxville High School, the reading [score] for all students was 44% meet or exceed, and for math, we had 46.7% meet or exceed for all students [on state standardized tests]."

Kemmer says only 76 students took the test, meaning one student accounted for a little more than one percentage point.

He was confident scores could be higher in the future if just a few more students test in the meet or exceed ranges.

The level students have to reach, however, rises each year as well.
