Tea Party Rally Draws Hundreds to Lincoln Park
The Galesburg Tea Party had a few unexpected guests at Thursday night's rally.

A small group of union members attended the rally to make their own views known.

Signs for Congressman Phil Hare and supporting healthcare and President Barack Obama were prominently displayed.

Kirk Cooper from the Peoria area tells WGIL the idea was simply to send a message that some people appreciate what the government currently doing.

"Less government, I don't know, there's a fine line, but I think you can't just throw away the people when they get to retirement age and there's nothing for them. There has to be healthcare for them there has to be retirement and you've got several of these people that were here tonight that are those very people"

Cooper said he appreciated that the tea party members were respectful of his group and hoped they thought the same of his.

Hundreds of people gathered at Lincoln Park in Galesburg to hear local area tea party members speak about what changes they would like to see across the nation.
