Time For Flu Shots
With flu season right around the corner, the Illinois Department of Public Health is recommending that you contact your doctor's office or a local public health department to find out when you can get a flu vaccine.

You'll get only one shot this year. Last year, the state agency and the Centers for Disease Control recommended both a seasonal flu shot plus a vaccine for the H1N1 strain. This year, the H1N1 strain is included in the seasonal flu shot.

Illinois Department of Public Health spokeswoman Melaney Arnold says it's best to get the shot as soon as it's available. Flu season typically runs from October through May.
