IL Governor Candidates Face Off at Closed Events
CHICAGO (AP) -- They insist it's not a debate, but both Illinois gubernatorial candidates will meet to make speeches and answer questions in front of a group of Chicago business leaders.

Gov. Pat Quinn and his Republican opponent Bill Brady are scheduled to appear Tuesday at a forum before the Commercial Club of Chicago.

The event is closed to the press. Club spokeswoman Dea Meyer says it's an opportunity for members of the invitation-only club to have a candid conversation about business issues.

The private event is the first joint appearance by the two candidates in the heart of campaign season. Quinn and Brady have bickered about who's to blame for having only three public debates.

The debates are Sept. 29 at Chicago's Union League Club, Oct. 14 at Southern Illinois University and Oct. 20, moderated by Chicago's WLS-TV.
