Quinn, Brady Hold Closed Debate
The Republican and Democratic candidates for governor participated in what may be considered the first debate of ahead of the general election.

Governor Pat Quinn and Republican State Senator Bill Brady were both on stage at the Commercial Club of Chicago on Tuesday, taking questions from Chicago area businessmen. The event was closed to the press and was billed by the club as a "forum" but both Quinn and Brady referred to it as a debate.

When asked about what audience members wanted to know, Quinn says education and the economy were key concerns. Education has been a major platform for Quinn, who accuses Brady of wanting to make steep cuts in that area.

Brady said he too talked about the economy and about the failed policies of the Quinn administration to fix the growing budget problem. He says the budget is worse now than under ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich.

At least three more debates are expected before the November election.
