Man Accused of Threateing Obama to be in Court
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- A southwestern Illinois man accused of threatening President Barack Obama and falsely claiming to have a bomb during a stand off is scheduled to make his first federal court appearance.

Fifty year old Roman Conaway is slated to be in court Thursday in East St. Louis on charges that he made a threat against the president and made false threats to detonate an explosive device.

Conaway was arrested Wednesday after a seven hour stand off in which he said explosives were packed in his belt and three containers on his property. All the items turned out to be harmless.

Authorities say Conaway also called an area mosque and threatened to ignite a war between Muslims and Christians. An FBI agent says in court papers that Conaway denies threatening Obama.

It isn't yet clear if Conaway has an attorney.
