Losing Lottery Company Protests IL Decision
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The company that lost out on a lucrative bid to manage the Illinois State Lottery has protested the decision.

Camelot Illinois has filed a protest with the state Department of Revenue.

In a statement, Dianne Thompson of Camelot says Governor Pat Quinn's decision wasn't based on a competitive process and violated state law.

Last week, Quinn awarded a 10 year agreement to Northstar Lottery to manage the 35 year old state run gambling operation. Northstar comprises companies that already have Lottery contracts.

Camelot is asking the Quinn administration to reopen the bidding process.

Camelot has managed Britain's national lottery since 1994 and is a consultant on the California State Lottery.
