Federal Grant May Help Expand Businesses in Knox County
Galesburg and Knox County officials are thrilled over what primarily is federal help coming this way for local business expansion.

The city held a news conference Thursday morning, saying they've received $1.2 million dollars coming through Congressman Phil Hare's office.

City Mayor Sal Garza made the announcement saying the fund would help Galesburg grow and create business, therefore working on the city's number one priority...jobs.

"That means that we can do a more assertive job of retaining, growing, and recruiting businesses and jobs to our communities and that is as I understand it, and have understood it for some time, our top priority is to get people back to work."

The city says it will implement 10 programs to spread the funds to local businesses. The money will come over three years. There is also a half million dollar match of the funds from the city and donations.
