Candidates Talk Marijuana
Talk turned to pot during a recent forum involving three candidates for governor.

Green Party candidate Rich Whitney says he's all for legalizing and taxing marijuana as a way to bring in money to state coffers. Speaking to reporters after a closed candidate forum, Whitney said he believes legalizing and taxing pot would bring in more than $300,000.

The Republican candidate, State Sen. Bill Brady, says he is against legalizing marijuana, saying that he goes along with federal laws.

Governor Pat Quinn says he too is against legalizing the drug. He says it would harm Illinois' youth.

Whitney says that the real merits of legalizing marijuana have more to do with reforming the criminal justice system rather than raising revenue.

The forum was put on by the Civic Federation.
