UPDATE: Man Arrested After Friday Stabbing Incident
UPDATED 6:00am 8/25/10 Galesburg police say a man was arrested early Saturday morning after a suspected stabbing late Friday afternoon.

Police officials say 30-year old Kenneth Mitchell was arrested at a Grand Avenue bar around closing time Saturday morning on a charge of Aggravated Battery with a Weapon.

Police reports indicate officers were first called to a suspected stabbing around quarter to five yesterday evening. The victim -- 29-year old James Coleman of Chicago -- told officers the stabbing happened at a home in the two-hundred block of Pine Street.

Officers say Coleman and Mitchell got into a scuffle relating to a bottle of alcohol when the fight briefly broke up, at which time Mitchell came back at Coleman with a black-handled knife, stabbing the man in the chest after threatening to kill him.

Coleman was taken to a local hospital, and police say his injuries aren't life-threatening.

Mitchell, meanwhile, was taken to the Knox County Jail where he awaits further court proceedings.
