Rain Not Major Obstacle for Farmers
Last week's rain did little to seriously interrupt the state's harvest. While it delayed some farmers in the northern half of the state from getting into soybean fields, the warm and breezy conditions kept drying out corn and allowing combines to get in the fields.

Corn is now 57 percent harvested, up from two percent last year with all the rain, and also up from the 21 percent five year average. Soybeans are 22 percent harvested, compared to one percent last year and the 13 percent five year average.

Schwab is hearing from farmers who report that their corn yield and kernel size are both down. The sorghum harvest is now 32 percent complete, compared to one percent last year, and the 17 percent five year average.
