Quinn Pushing Equal Pay
Equal pay for equal work is a recurring theme this election season.

It's a phrase that Governor Pat Quinn has used over and over while stumping across the state. He says he supports equal pay for workers regardless of sex while his opponent, State Senator Bill Brady does not.

"I think that is a major difference in this race that I have a record of helping women business owners start businesses, get jobs created and keep it going," Quinn said.

Quinn claims that if Brady is elected, he would cut the minimum wage and equal pay for equal work regulations and let the free market determine how much someone should be paid.

With respect to the minimum wage, $8.50 an hour in Illinois, Brady said earlier this year that the minimum wage should be dropped to the federal level of $7.25. He later said that the minimum wage should not be dropped, but that it should not be increased until the federal minimum wage catches up with Illinois. However, he said as a candidate for governor he has no opinion on whether the federal minimum wage should be increased.
