Ads to Help IL Residents Prepare for Disasters
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois officials are introducing eight new radio announcements to encourage people to prepare for disasters during National Preparedness month in September.

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency says the spots will air more than 30,000 times during the coming year and direct listeners to the Ready Illinois website to learn more.

The ads will feature actress Marion Ross. She portrayed Marion Cunningham on the hit TV series ``Happy Days'' of the 1970s.

Other ads focus on preparing pets for emergencies and awareness of the ``Seven Signs of Terrorism'' to help people learn how to prevent attacks.

The $220,000 campaign is funded by grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
