Quinn Says Confindent in New Corrections Chief
CHICAGO (AP) -- Governor Pat Quinn says he has full confidence in the new head of the Illinois Corrections Department despite her limited experience with prisons.

Gladyse Taylor has been assistant director of the department since May. Before that, she worked in the governor's budget office.

Quinn said Friday that Taylor knows the Corrections Department ``like the back of her hand.'' But Quinn would not say whether he'll keep her as head of Corrections if he is elected to a full term in November.

Taylor replaces Director Michael Randle, who is resigning after months of criticism for mishandling an early release program.

The program wasn't revealed to the public and it included some prisoners with violent records, although Quinn says didn't want violent offenders to qualify for early release.
