Illinois State Police Offer Child Safety Seat Checks
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (AP) -- State officials are helping Illinoisans hitting the road for Labor Day stay safe.

Illinois State Police District and the Illinois Tollway are offering free child safety seat checks.

Certified technicians will inspect the use of child safety seats and can help with proper installation.

State officials say properly installed safety seats eliminate possible distractions. They estimate 80 percent of child safety seats in Illinois are installed improperly.

The checks are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Illinois Tollway stops. They include one on Wednesday at the Belvidere Oasis on Interstate 90 and Thursday at the Lake Forest Oasis on Interstate 94.

Also, Illinois tourism experts will be on hand to point out destinations and recreation points.
