Enrollment Flux in District 205
The middle school enrollment in Galesburg School District 205 has remained around 1000 students since the 2007-08 school year.

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Joel Estes says the most drastic change has occurred at the high school level.

"In 2008-2009...we had 1,486 students at the high school level; that was the year before we instituted Galesburg High School North, the alternative school," Estes said. "In the past three years, we have steadily declined to a 6th day enrollment of 1,518 students at the high school level. That includes the 85 students that we have at Galesburg High School North."

Estes says the K through 12 grade level has lost 500 district students over the last 10 years.

He says the most troubling statistic from this year's 6th day enrollment figures is that 50 students have been lost at the elementary level. A fallout he says is unexplainable.
