District-205 Recognizes Galesburg Public Schools Foundation
A vital contributor who has showed enormous support to the Galesburg school district was honored this week for their hard work and dedication to children of Galesburg.

The Galesburg Public Schools Foundation was honored Monday night by the District 205 Board of Education, recognizing their 24 years of service to the city's public schools.

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Joel Estes says multiple efforts by the foundation has provided enormous support for the District 205.

"These efforts have ranged from raising $1.8 million to build Wicall Gymnasium and Mustain Pool, to establishing the Richardson's Readers First Grade Reading Program, to providing substantial funding to the Reading at the Crossroads Middle School Literacy Program," Estes said.

Since 1987, Estes says more than $2.1 million has been distributed to the Galesburg School District.

Board President Rick Welty and Superintendent of District 205 Gene Denisar presented a certificate of appreciation to Connie Wessels Monday night. Wessels is the Vice President of the Galesburg Public Schools Foundation Board.
