Lt. Gov. Simon Visits Chicago-Area Colleges
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) -- Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon continued her tour of the state's community colleges with visits to institutions in the southern Chicago suburbs.

Simon started three days of community college visits on Wednesday with a stop at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights. There she met with members of the South Metropolitan Higher Education Consortium. The goal of her local college tours is to increase graduation and course completion rates.

The lieutenant governor says lots of students are entering Illinois community colleges, but not enough are finishing with degrees or certificates.

Simon hopes to visit all 48 Illinois community colleges this year. Her current tour will take her to South Holland, Palos Hills, Joliet and Kankakee.
