Money Sought For Ill. Home With Lincoln Ties
PONTIAC, Ill. (AP) -- History buffs say they need money to put a new coat of paint on a home they say is the only one left in Livingston County with ties to Abraham Lincoln.

Tom Ewing is chairman of the Livingston County Historical Society's Strevell House Committee. The Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington reports http://bit.ly/oOTkxEthe group is appealing to local businesses and individuals in hopes they can repaint the home in Pontiac, which is about 40 miles northeast of Bloomington.

Jason W. Strevell practiced law in Pontiac for a number of years and was a Republican member of the state House of Representatives and Senate. He and Lincoln were friends and Lincoln spent time in the home.

Ewing said the paint job is needed as part of a variety of renovation work that is going on. He said the group needs about $30,000.
