Knoxville School's Budget In The Black
It was tentatively presented in July, then updated in August; the 2012 Fiscal Year Budget for the Knoxville School District has finally been officially approved by its board of education.

Superintendent Steve Wilder tells WGIL 2012's budget lies a bit in the black, for now.

"If everything goes according to plan, which typically it doesn't there's always twists and turns during the school year, but if we end up staying according to plan we would end up $300,000 in the black."

Included in the budget Wilder says is funding for the track upgrade at the new sports complex, but none toward the planned high school project.

"Till we hear back from the state and get final awarding of the grant money I have not included that," he says. "We've heard from the state that they hope to make a decision on awarding that grant money this fall, but until I hear back from them I didn't want to include that in the budget."

In regards to the high school project, Wilder says Monday the board also approved a resolution showing their intent to pay the state back for the proposed funding.

He says the resolution lays out the board's plans to reimburse the state through the sale of alternative revenue bonds.
