Police Arrest 4 for Suspected Carjacking
FIRST REPORTED 10:20am 9/23/11 Four people are in police custody for the suspected carjacking and weapons incident Wednesday night Galesburg.

Galesburg Police say the four were arrested Thursday night: 20-year old Robert Kimbell of Galesburg, and three Chicago residents -- 20-year old Rontonio Guterez, 20-year old Isaac Jefferies, and 20-year old Kionne Moore.

Police accuse Guterez and Jefferies of approaching 26-year old Jarret Mason Wednesday night around 8:15 behind a home in the 1400 block of North West Street.

Officers believe the two hit Mason with a gun, causing head and face injuries. They say the gun went off, but Mason wasn't injured because of it.

The two allegedly left with Mason's car, and police say the car was later spotted at West Main and Linwood Road, but the driver stopped the car and fled on foot before police could stop him, but wasn't found.

Guterez and Jeffries face charges of Armed Robbery and Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, while Kimbell and Moore face charges of Obstruction of Justice. Moore was also wanted on a Knox County Warrant for Retail Theft.

The four are in Knox County Jail awaiting court appearances.

Mason was treated and released from the hospital.
