Sampling Company Upgrades To Sustainable Business Center
Their first sale came in Peoria in 1989. They moved into the Galesburg's Cleary Building in 1997. The latest edition to Blackburn Sampling's historical timeline came Wednesday.

The company moved into the Sustainable Business Center in town, becoming the incubator's third tenant this year.

Owner Bob Blackburn tells WGIL the reason for the move is simple, they just ran out of space on Main Street.

"We were in smaller quarters there, about 900 square foot," Blackburn says. "And really we couldn't add more people there or take stuff in we had to use the outdoor storage units."

And Blackburn says it was a gamble for his staff to use these units because of the weather, a staff he jokingly says was difficult to manage in the confined space inside.

"We were kind of bumping into ourselves, my warehouse guy I had to put a balloon on him to find amongst all the inventory."

Blackburn Sampling is a distributor for environmental agencies such as the E-P-A.

Blackburn says their calling card product is their composite liquid waste sampler. He says these unit provides stratified samples of liquid from barrels, tanks, and railcars.
