Ups And Downs In Weather And In Lake Attendance
The weather this season has been unfavorable to those in agriculture, but what about those in recreation?

Galesburg Recreation Superintendent Roger Sensabaugh says it was a bit of a roller coaster ride for him, too, this summer.

Sensabaugh tells WGIL attendance at Lake Storey Beach and Lakeside Splashzone was impacted one way or another due to this summer's weather, depending on what type of weather you're talking about.

"June we took on quite a bit of rain and such, of course July turned out very very warm," he says. "With the ups and downs actually the beach has been pretty busy, with the campground, the campground has been full, so all all we hope when the final numbers come in we'll see we've increased a little bit."

Sensabaugh says Lakeside Splashzone has been a highlight, especially with the hotter months of July and August.

This was the second year Lake Storey Beach was only open on weekends and holidays, and Sensabaugh says it has worked out well, especially that people now anticipate the Friday through Sunday hours.
