Double-Whammy Power Outage In Part Of Galesburg
Residents in one section of Galesburg might have felt like they were going to have bad luck follow them all day Monday after having the lights go out on them twice during the morning.

Ameren had to restore power to about 19-hundred customers twice Monday morning. The first outage happened around 8:30 a-m and lasted four about 50 minutes. Spokesman Leigh Morris says a broken jumper was to blame for that outage that was bounded by Silas Willard Elementary School and Wal-Mart.

Then, about 40 minutes later, electricity went out again -- this time, Morris says, due to a broken cable insulator.

It was in the same area -- and at least one person who works near Wal-Mart says she was sent home for the day because they were told it could be several hours before power could be restored.

Turns out, the second outage lasted just over an hour.

No one was hurt in any of the outages.

Morris says it is unusual to have two outages in the same day affecting the same group of customers.
