Bonds Set In Cajacking And Weapons Incident Last Week
Four people accused in a carjacking and weapons incident last week will be back in court later this week after bond was set Monday.

The four -- 20-year old Robert Kimbell of Galesburg, and 20-year olds Rontonio Guterez, Isaac Jefferies, and Kione Moore, all of Chicago, had bonds set yesterday of a half-million dollars apiece, according to Knox County Circuit Court records.

Guterez and Kimbell face felony charges of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, Attempted Armed Robbery, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and Obstruction of Justice.

Jefferies and Moore face similar charges except for counts of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking Accountability.

Guterez and Kimbell allegedly went up to 26-year old Jarret Mason behind Bell Isle apartments late last Wednesday night, allegedly pistol-whipping him and stealing his car.

The car was later found near West Main Street and Linwood Road, but the driver had fled on foot before Knox County Sheriffs Deputies could conduct a traffic stop.

The four were arrested a day later.

Mason was treated and released from the hospital. Officers said a shot was fired during the incident, but that it did not injure Mason.

The four, if convicted, could face as much as a half-century in prison.
