Health Department Keeps Flu Shot Fee Same, Increases Another
The cost of one vaccination is going up at the Knox County Health Department, while another will stay the same.

The Knox County Board of Health Tuesday in a special session voted to keep flu shots the same at $30 a vaccination, but raise the pneumonia vaccine by $25, making it $70 a shot.

Heath Department spokesperson Erin Olson tells WGIL the pneumonia vaccine increase really was out of their hands.

"The cause of the increase was to [cover] what we were getting charged with the vaccine for administrative fees," Olson said.

Olson says traffic into the Health Department is usually good for both the flu and pneumonia vaccines.

"We definitely do get some people who come in, who want that flu shot and a pneumonia shot," Olson said. "Most of the people that we do see, I think, are referred through their physicians."

Both vaccines will be available on a walk-in basis at the Knox County Health Department Starting October 18th. A drive-thru clinic for flu vaccines only will be available at Hinchliff-Pearson-West in Galesburg October 15th, with another flu-only clinic at the Health Department Monday the 17th.
