Late Father Inspires Malaysian Born Daughter To Study At Knox
A Malaysian woman chose Galesburg as her first destination in the United States. Why? For Knox College.

Ayesha Ismel-Fariz remembers her late father talking about his own undergrad experience at Knox.

"He just told me a lot of his stories from college, college is one of the most exciting parts in somebody's life," she says. "He told a lot of his stories about his time at Knox, it sounded like a really cool place so I thought I'd just try it out."

Ismel-Fariz tells WGIL her father had his own venture capital company and was also a banker.

She says she wants to study in a similar field and perhaps major in economics.

Iseml-Fariz was among 400 new students officially welcomed to Knox College Saturday by first year President Teresa Amott.

She says she will miss her mother the most, who made the multiple day trip across the Pacific to settle her in.
