State Rep Says Health Care Needs Eligibility Tweaking
State Representative Jill Tracy has the newly redrawn 94th District in her vision. Tracy seeks re-election after redistricting created a redrawn 94th.

She feels the state's medicaid offerings for those 200-percent below the poverty level may need some tweaking.

"If we look at the average income of people within western Illinois, they would argue with you that that is a healthy wage of, 200% of the poverty level of a family of four is $67,000," she says. "Many of our people choose not to avail themselves to those services because they feel they have the ability to work. I think a lot of our average citizens would think that eligibility level is a little bit high."

Tracy was an advocate for income eligibility limits on the state's All Kids Program. She says she was disturbed that a program first started illegally by former governor Rod Blagojevich had no income limits.

Tracy says it was crippling to the state budget that families earning high six figure salaries were paying low premiums compared to other health insurance policies.

She hopes Illinois can work on their eligibility requirements concerning the poverty levels and to start low, working their way up.
