Sheley Attorney Wants More Chances To Toss Jurors
The attorney for accused spree killer Nicholas Sheley wants more changes to dismiss potential jurors for ultimately no reason whatsoever.

Attorney Jeremy Karlin has used all of his client's seven peremptory challenges for dismissals -- essentially, they're a way jurors to be dismissed without cause.

Both sides get seven during the course of jury selection, but Tuesday, Karlin filed a motion asking for five more.

Knox County Circuit Court Judge James Stewart said he'd take up the motion Wednesday. Prosecutors still have several left they can use, and Stewart himself can also dismiss jurors.

Case in point, Stewart said yesterday he was dismissing one juror because one of the answers on his questionnaire was, quote, "so repulsive" he couldn't let the man on the jury.

Sheley faces over a dozen murder charges for the death of 65-year old Ronald Randall. Stewart had hoped a jury could be seated by Tuesday. While no new jurors were picked, three more were retained for further questioning.

A total of 12 jurors and four alternates are needed for trial. Eight have been sworn in so far.
