Design Changes For New Knoxville Sports Complex Concessions
District 202 wants to get it right the first time. Superintendent Steve Wilder says plans were altered at a special board meeting Tuesday night for the new concession stand at the football and track facility being built for Knoxville High School.

He says the cost of the building has gone up to $1.1 million dollars, causing the district to act a more durable split block instead of siding for the structure.

"One of the things we also did was take a look at the square footage of the facility, how the area is broken up," Wilder says. "We felt we could reduce the overall size and still add size to the concession stand and things our boosters use currently, and still reduce the costs. So a lot of variables went into the that, but essentially we decided to go with the split block to construct the building, and reduce the size of the building to reduce the cost."

Wilder tells WGIL the split block will ensure the concession stand to be more durable and attractive.

He says the board also cut down on kitchen space, while adding a couple stalls for the men's and women's bathrooms.
