Illinoisans Host 9/11 Commemorations Statewide
CHICAGO (AP) -- From early morning concerts to ceremonies at local fire departments groups around Illinois are holding commemoration events of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Sunday marks the tenth anniversary.

Quincy officials are handing out 30,000 free posters commemorating the events. In Champaign, city officials are encouraging churches, fire departments and police stations to sound sires and ring bells at noon.

Later in the day at Soldier Field before the Bears game, a group of first responders who traveled to Ground Zero will be honored.

U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk's office is hosting the event. He says the first responders have shown great bravery.

In Chicago Congressman Danny Davis will host an evening candle light vigil. Organizers are expecting hundreds of people.
