A Theme Of Hope At Local 9/11 Memorial Service
The sound of the Galesburg Fire Department's bell tolled to honor the lives lost ten years ago Sunday.

Galesburg's First Presbyterian Church was the home of a local memorial service to mark the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

The Church's pastor, Reverend David Parker, is also the Fire Department's chaplain, and said there was a simple message behind the day.

"We take time in our busy lives and our daily schedules to remember, and to honor, and to think about hope," he says.

State Representative Don Moffitt, State Senator Darrin LaHood, and Congressman Bobby Schilling all spoke during the service.

Schilling says at first he and others felt helpless as he watched the Twin Towers fell in New York, but that helplessness turned to resolve, as people from all religions united as Americans.
