Kewanee Set To Prove Hog-Capital Status
If you are a pork lover then there's only one place to feast your senses upon this weekend, and that's Kewanee's Hog Days. The 58th Annual Hog Capital of the World Festival kicks off Friday night, and will run through Monday evening.

Hog Festival Committee Secretary Larry Flannery says quite the buzz is surrounding the Henry County town for it's 58th annual event.

"The theme this year is Any Way You Slice It, Kewanee Hog Days," he says. "Everyone's looking forward to having a good time this weekend, even though we do have the threat of some rain for part of the festival, Friday into Saturday. Looks like the bulk of the weekend is going to be good for us, and by the time we get into the latter part of the weekend we should have some cool fall like weather to enjoy the festival."

Flannery tells WGIL he doesn't expect the forecast to prevent the 20 to 30 thousand people to roll through Kewanee this weekend, many who will be celebrating family or class reunions.

The event features a parade Saturday and carnival throughout the weekend. The four day festival also includes the world's largest outdoor pork barbecue. 30 thousand butterfly pork chops and burgers will be served.
