Grand Jury Indictments in August Murder Case
New charges have been filed in the case of a Monmouth man accused of shooting and killing a Galesburg man last month.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate a grand jury Monday filed charges against 30-year old Jereme Carter.

Carter now faces four counts of first-degree murder, along with counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Carter is accused of using a shotgun to kill 38-year old Terrell Allen in a suspected drive-by shooting late-August 27th in the one-thousand block of Mulberry Street in Galesburg.

A grand jury has also filed new charges against 33-year old Barry Fletcher of Galesburg. He faces two-counts of Obstruction of Justice, along with counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition by a Felon, for allegedly possessing the gun used to kill Allen, and throwing it into Lake Storey the day following the shooting.

Carter will next be in Knox County Circuit Court October fourth and is being held on a million dollars bond, while Fletcher will be in court October 10th for an arraignment hearing. He's jailed on 750-thousand dollars bond.
