Mother Accused of Faking Abduction Appears in Court
A Toulon woman will be back in court in a couple of weeks after allegedly dumping her baby on the side of the road Thursday, then reporting that the child was abducted.

19-year old Kendra Meaker made her first appearance in a Stark County Courtroom Friday morning, about 12 hours after she was arrested on charges of Child Endangerment -- a misdemeanor -- and Obstruction of Justice -- a felony.

Police say Meaker told them her three-week-old daughter -- Mira Graci Thompson -- had been abducted by a female wearing sweatpants and driving a gold or tan Buick or Pontiac.

After about eight hours of searching, police said that they were no longer using that description, and that they had no suspects.

A few hours later, volunteers found Thompson in a ditch on the side of a rural Toulon road.

Thompson was taken to a Peoria hospital, but is believed to be okay.

A judge today set bond at 100-thousand dollars, and another court date for October 12th.

The judge also ordered Meaker to have no contact with Thompson.
