Monmouth-area Marine Returns Home
Local residents have once again shown their support for the military, by once again welcoming one of their own home.

Marine Corporal Jacob Greenlief was welcomed home by friends and family Saturday both at the Quad City Airport in Moline, and again in Monmouth, where the Patriot Guard riders escorted him to a surprise party, after a seven-month tour of duty in Afghanistan helping in the transition to Afghan military rule.

Greenlief tells WGIL he received the welcome home he didn't really want, but that's okay.

"I pretty much told Gary [Schrock] not to do this for me," Greenlief said. "I did a bunch of these before I deployed to Afghanistan. And, I told them I didn't want it for me. But, he surprised me as always."

Greenlief was referring to Patriot Guard rider Gary "Cowboy" Schrock.

Nevertheless, Greenlief says it's great to be back home, and noticed how much his two young children have grown up in such a quick time.

Greenlief's father Dave is also in Afghanistan, working there. He's expected home in December, but did get to meet up with his son during the deployment.
