Federal Prison Time on Drug Charges for Galesburg Man
A Galesburg man arrested as part of a larger federal investigation into illegal drug activity will be spending the next several years in prison.

Records from U.S District Court in Peoria indicates 27-year old Chad Van Voltenburg was sentenced Friday to 72 months in federal prison, and another four years on parole, after pleading guilty to a single charge of Conspiracy to Make Methamphetamine.

Several other drug and weapons charges were dropped in exchange.

Van Voltenburg was arrested early last year initially on state charges, but that case was later dropped after federal charges ended up being filed.

Van Voltenburg, along with family members Amy and Christine Van Voltenburg were part of the larger "Operation Saddle Up" federal investigation, which officials say has resulted in over 100 arrests across central Illinois on various drug charges.

Amy and Christine Van Volenburg are currently going through the federal Pretrial Alternatives to Detention Initiative -- essentially the federal equivalent to drug court.
