Community Gets Naming Rights for Knoxville Stadium
Knoxville's new sports complex has officially been dedicated to the people of the community.

At Friday night's first varsity football game at the new complex, the entire stadium was dedicated as the Knoxville Community Sports Complex, which will be put up as soon as it's ready, but wasn't ready for Friday night.

District-202 Superintendent Steve Wilder tells WGIL it was important to make sure the entirety of the complex would be dedicated to the community.

"It is one of the most important parts, it's recognition for all the people who have come out and donated time and labor materials."

Wilder tells WGIL the community contributed greatly to the cost of the 1.5 million dollar complex, and they'll be recognized, too.

"What we have referred to as the donor wall is almost complete, the brick pavers have been installed, there is a wall that has been erected, and Lacky Monuments is currently working on a black granite plaque that is going to be installed."

The football field has been named after longtime coach and football field construction volunteer Dennis Larson

The track has been named after late longtime Knoxville Track Coach Larry Ragsdale.

Both coaches, Wilder says, are the type of people you hope to have across your entire coaching staff.
