State Trooper Injured in I-74 Crash
There were no major injuries, but Illinois State Police officials say an accident near the Knox-Henry County Line Friday is a reminder of a state law that urges motorists to get out of the way of emergency vehicles.

State Police say a crash happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 74 near Woodhull around 5:30 Friday night. They say a fellow trooper was investigating the crash of a semi truck and had its emergency lights on signaling motorists needed to move to the left when, a blue Ford Taurus struck the back of the trooper's squad car. Officials say that caused the squad car to move, and ended up hitting an oncoming Chrysler Sebring.

Neither the Ford Taurus driver nor the trooper were identified, but both were taken to an unidentified hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The Taurus driver will be issued a citation under the state's "Move Over Law" -- which could result in the driver's license being suspended for two years, or a $10,000 fine, or both.

The ticket will be for Failure to Yield to a Stationary Authorized Emergency Vehicle.
