CSC Names Two to "Wall of Honor"
Two instructors retired Carl Sandburg College will be what could be described as the institution's highest honor.

The CSC Board of Trustees has approved honoring sociology professor Wendel Hunigan and business professor Janet LeDage with the college's Distinguished Service Award, which will permanently enshrine the two into the college's "Wall of Honor."

CSC President Tom Schmidt tells WGIL the honors don't stop there for Hunigan. "Wendel Hunigan has agreed to accept an invitation to serve as our commencement speaker this coming May 14th," Schmidt said. "And I can't tell you -- I'm certainly speaking for Wendel a little bit -- it was a very touching invitation for Wendel. He immediately agreed to that, and he agreed to keep the speech to under 15 minutes, which is hard to believe."

While saying that in jest, Schmidt says he's believed for years that Hunigan was a great asset to the college, with the same being said for LeDage. He describes the selection of the two as "no-brainers."

Hunigan and LeDage will be honored during the annual employee holiday luncheon December 19th.

At their most recent meeting, the Sandburg board also approved conducting a wind energy feasibility study, renovations for the ball diamonds on the CSC campus, updating the college's website, and entering into a document management system that will, among other things, bring brand new copy machines and other equipment to campus.
