Wind Causes Power Outages in Galesburg; Wind Advisory Sunday, Freeze Warning Monday Morning, Tuesday Morning
UPDATED: 3:48pm 10/26/08 Gusty winds knocked electricity out to hundreds in the Galesburg area Sunday afternoon.

Ameren Illinois Power says there were roughly 675 customers in Galesburg without power starting around two o'clock Sunday afternoon, believed to be knocked out due to the winds. Other outages were reported in East Galesburg and Knoxville, among others, but Ameren's outage map shows the Galesburg area as the main area in the state with reported power outages. In addition to the power outages, a number of local roads have tree branches, leaves and other debris in them, so take precautions when driving.

UPDATE: As of 3:45pm, most of the outages had been restored, but there are now scattered outages in Abingdon, Stronghurst, and Dallas City.

The National Weather Service says a WIND ADVISORY remains in effect until 9pm today, with winds out of the west-northwest at 25-35 miles per hour, gusting up to 45 miles per hour. Plus, most of the area will be under a FREEZE WARNING from 1am until 9am Monday. Tonight's low is expected to be around 29 degrees, creating what forecasters are calling the first widespread freeze of the season.
