Statewide Voter Turnout Great
The number of early voters for this general election could be higher than three-quarters of a million. The count, according to reports, is at a new record of 821,000. That's compared to 220,000 early votes in the primary election in February.

State Board of Elections executive director Dan White says some local elections offices were so inundated with early voters that they're having trouble counting them all and getting their numbers to his office. Another 450,000 people voted absentee, and 25,000 voted in the grace period for voter registration.

He expects Tuesday, the traditional Election Day, to be busy, and suggested that voters try to visit their polling places during the middle of the day, rather than the typically-busy early morning hours and the evening hours.
